Over the centuries only few caravans dared to cross the northern route of the silk road that today lies in the territory of Kazakhstan.
In this portion of Asian desert there was no place to build a majestic city nor anything else worth fighting for.
Until in 1955 the Soviet government realised that those lands, far as they may be from the rest of the World, were just one step away from the Universe.
Andrea Sorini was born in Milan, Italy, in 1988, raised in Bologna, graduated at ACT Multimedia (2010) and further in Film Directing in Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia (2015).
In 2016 he co-wrote the screenplay of the feature film “Look Up” (Revok Film and Rai Cinema) directed by Fulvio Risuleo, presented at Rome International Film Festival 2017.
“Baikonur, Earth” (Lumen Films, The Piranesi Experience and Rai Cinema with Il Saggiatore, 2018) is his first feature documentary.
